Date: October 5-7, 2022

Venue: Doha, Qatar

Abstract Submission Deadline: January 15, 2022

In collaboration with the Doha-based research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE), Cambridge Interfaith Program is pleased to invite research papers on the topic: The conceptual ground of good and evil in Islamic discourse: a fecund domain for ethical reflections.

A closed 3-day seminar will be held in Doha from 5-7 October, 2022. Dr Feriel Bouhafa, a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge, is convening the seminar. Proceedings will be published as a special issue in the Journal of Islamic Ethics (peer-reviewed and open-access).

The authors of a selection of the accepted papers will be invited to participate in the seminar. Other accepted papers will be considered for the publication. Submissions (abstracts, bios and full papers) can be written in either English, Arabic and French. Additional guidelines for the full papers are available from Brill.

In April 2016, CILE signed an agreement with Brill to launch the refereed Journal of Islamic Ethics (JIE). A thematic issue will bring together papers under the title, “Unpacking the conceptual ground of good and evil in Islamic discourse: a fecund domain for ethical reflections”. Accepted submissions in this call-for-papers will undergo the usual peer-review process for inclusion in the publication.
