As we approach the new academic year of 2021/22, we are glad to announce the beginning of a new initiative, the Oxford Interfaith Forum, which CMCS is helping to support. This is an academically oriented interfaith network based in Oxford connecting researchers, practitioners and policy makers across the city with each other and with scholars from a variety of disciplines across the world.

Through online meetings, the Oxford Interfaith Forum will host a monthly seminar series and reading groups for particular interests. Not only will this foster interdisciplinary engagement but understanding of different beliefs and practices of faith as it builds a diverse, connected community. It is open to academic scholars, religious leaders, chaplains, students, and those with an interest in issues of religion and society.

The first seminar is a reflection on the Creation Story from Revd Dr John Goldingay, Oxford; Ustadah Yomna Helmy, Centre of Islamic Studies, University of Cambridge; and Rabbi David Wolpe, The Max Webb Senior Rabbi, Sinai Temple, Los Angeles. And the second seminar is entitled “Abraham and His Children” from Professor Anna Sapir Abulafia, University of Oxford, and Dr Zeyneb Sayilgan, the Institute for Islamic, Christian, and Jewish Studies, Baltimore, MD.
