About The Event
Wellesley College seeks applications for a one-year, full-time, non-renewable Visiting Lectureship in Islamic Studies for 2019-2020. The position will be held in the Department of Religion. The successful candidate will offer a total of five courses, one of which will be a First-Year expository writing course of the candidate’s own design, with enrollment limited to 15 students. Of the remaining four courses, one should be an introductory course open to all students, and one should be a seminar.
The Lectureship invites applicants trained in any relevant discipline (for example, Religious Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, History, Philosophy and Theology, Anthropology) and whose research involves any country, period, or geographical/cultural region. Areas of specialization may include any field within Islamic studies, including ethics, modern and contemporary thought and practice, religion and politics, gender studies, scripture and interpretation.
