Islamic Studies in the UK: Challenges, Opportunities and Emerging Agendas
About The Event
Date: June 19, 2018
Venue: Brunei Gallery, SOAS University of London, London WC1H 0XG, UK
The workshop is sponsored by the AHRC-funded project Representing Islam on Campus and will be held on June 19th in the Brunei Gallery at SOAS, London.
Islamic Studies is one of the key strands of the project and the overall aim of the day is to build on and reformulate discussions led by the Islamic Studies Network (2008-2012) about the role and place of Islamic Studies in Higher Education. We also aim to present our project findings on the teaching and learning of Islamic Studies at six university campuses. We will engage colleagues in the field in a conversation about some key project themes such as ‘Islamic Studies in the Age of Securitization’ and ‘Emerging agendas in research and teaching’.
