About The Event
Date: September 2019
Specialized Masters programs in Islamic Finance are crucial to future study plans at Dundee’s Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education. Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education in collaboration with University of Dundee, are pleased to announce the launch of three unique Masters programs in Islamic Finance; Islamic Banking and Finance; and Islamic Banking, Finance and International Business. The programs are open to graduates from finance and non-finance backgrounds.
Currently, there are very few universities in the UK offering Islamic Finance at degree level. University of Dundee with the support from the College, looks to be the first in Scotland to succeed in offering the subject at MSc level.
Professor Bill Russell, University of Dundee program director, adds “The decision for University of Dundee and Al-Maktoum College to enter in to partnership over the new MSc programs was an obvious one…Our strength in conventional finance and international business, combined with Al-Maktoum College’s Islamic finance and political economics expertise makes for three comprehensive, theoretical and applied MSc degrees.” All three programs are designed for students who have completed an undergraduate degree and are now looking to specialize their studies within the financial sector.
The announcement of the degree programs come as welcoming news to the city of Dundee, having recently been named ‘The best place to live in Scotland’ by the Sunday Times. It is hoped that the initiative will increase the city’s international recognition, as well as add to its already diverse and multicultural community.
