British Islam Conference
About The Event
A Marketplace of Ideas
Date: February 25-26, 2017
Time: 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Venue: Human Rights Action Center, Amnesty International UK, EC2A 3EA London, UK
Keynote Speaker: Karen Armstrong
The British Islam Conference, organized by New Horizons, is back again with keynote speaker Karen Armstrong OBE making a special appearance. The weekend bonanza promotes collaboration and thinking around the idea of a British Islam and encourages the development of British Muslim thought, identity and culture; as well as creating a space for the development of networks and partnerships.
The British Islam Conference promotes an open, inclusive and forward-looking arena for debate, discussion and the sharing of ideas that are rooted in the British context. But this is not an academic event; it is about using all avenues possible, including art and culture, to enhance Muslim voices. The conference will see a number of parallel sessions where people (of any faith or no faith) can showcase their ideas and thoughts, relevant to the theme – however controversial or safe.
A Festival of Ideas:
– Presentations and workshops by activists, organizers, thinkers and scholars (program to be announced)
– Poetry and musical performances in the evening
