The aim of the conference is to set different fields of research of the Qur’an studies related. In this way, synergies between philology and theology shall be identified. For the considered research fields include the tradition of the Qur’an-text, the Late Antiquity Arabia, Christian and Jewish reflections in the Qur’an, epistemic notions in late antiquity and philological and theological approaches to the Qur’an text.
The conference explores areas of Qur’anic studies and brings different subfields in dialogue with each other. In this way, synergies between theology and philology are created and common methodological and theoretical challenges and chances addressed.
