The journal Forum Islamic-Theological Studies (FITS) is a peer-reviewed, international journal devoted to the interdisciplinary study of Islamic Theology and Religious Education, principally in Europe. FITS aims to provide an open space for academic dialogue within and across disciplinary and confessional boundaries to advance scholarship and debates in the various sub-disciplines of Islamic theology and religious education as well as in the sociology of religion as concerns ‘Islam’ and Muslims.
Submissions of research articles (50.000 to 70.000 characters, including spaces), reviews (max. 8.500 characters, including spaces), or conference reports (max. 13.000 characters, including spaces) are accepted in German and English. Submitted papers are subject to a peer review process based on mutual anonymity (‘double-blind’).

- Qur’anic Studies and Qur’anic Exegesis (tafsīr)
- Hadith Studies
- Sufism
- Islamic Legal Theory and Hermeneutics (fiqh)
- Islamic Ethics
- Islamic Philosophy
- Systematic-Discursive Theology (kalām)
- Islamic Religious Education
- Sociology of Religion on Muslims in Europe or the West
- Contributions on current discourses on Islam and Muslims in Europe
- Islam and Pluralism, Islam in Europe
- Interreligious Studies
- History of Islamic scholars and concepts
The journal is published twice a year. Contributions can be submitted until March 01 and October 01.
