The above two full-time posts are available on a fixed term basis from 1st April 2019 (or as soon as possible thereafter) for a period of 2 years in the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, College of Social Sciences and International Studies (SSIS) at the University of Exeter.

The College wishes to recruit two Research Fellows to participate in the Law, Authority and Learning in Shiite Islam (LAWALISI) ERC Advanced project, awarded to Professor Robert Gleave. Based in the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, the project team members examine the development of Imami Shi’i legal thinking from the earliest times to the contemporary period, placing them in the context of the wider development and elaboration of Islamic law. The two post holders will research in one of the research themes “Educational Institutions and Imami Shiite Law” and “Law and Politics in Late Classical Imami Shiism”.
