The College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, 10-month Visiting Assistant Professor in the history of Islam and the modern Middle East beginning August 2018. PhD. ABD applicants considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2019. Excellence in teaching required.
Instructional workload of eight courses for the academic year. Courses to be taught will include sections of the introductory survey of Islamic history, sections of the introductory survey of the Modern Middle East, and sections of the Towson University first year research and writing seminar focused on the recent Arab uprisings. There may be the opportunity, depending upon department needs, to teach one section of an upper-division offering in Islamic or Middle East history.
