So I’ve been dealing with a small headache at work lately. We have a bunch of clients who need to send us photos of their IDs, and I’m the one who has to manually check and type all the details into our system. Last week I messed up a birth date because the photo quality was bad, and it caused some confusion later. I started wondering if ID scanning tools are actually reliable in real life or if they just work well in demos. Has anyone here used something like that regularly? I’m curious if it really saves time or if you still end up double-checking everything anyway.

From my side, switching to an ID scanner helped more than I expected, especially when the photos are decent and not taken in total darkness. I’ve tested a few options, and tools like https://ocrstudio.ai/id-scanner/ are pretty handy because they automatically pull out names, document numbers, and dates without too much setup. I still do a quick manual check, but it’s way faster than typing everything from scratch. In my case, it cut processing time almost in half, and after a while you kind of learn what mistakes to watch for, like glare or cropped edges.

Just scrolling through this thread while having my coffee and it’s interesting to see how many everyday processes still rely on manual work. I don’t really deal with IDs in my job, but I’ve noticed similar things with receipts and old paperwork at home. Technology like OCR seems to be one of those things you don’t think about until you really need it. Even then, it’s always a balance between trusting automation and keeping a human eye on things, especially when details actually matter.
