About This Course
Learners who complete an overview of exercise will have a better physiological understanding of how your body responds to exercise and can identify behaviors, choices, and environments that affect your health and exercise.
You will look at a number of significant adjustments your body needs to respond appropriately to exercise physical stress, including changes in carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism, nutritional considerations, causes of muscle pain and fatigue, and effectiveness and risks. Performance-enhancing drugs challenge your active learning assessments to apply this new knowledge through nutrition reports, heart rate monitoring, total daily calorie counts, and body mass index (BMI).
Finally, learners will examine the scientific evidence for the benefits of exercise, including the prevention and treatment of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity (weight loss), depression, and dementia.
