Applications are invited for Visiting Fellowships and Visiting Research Fellowships at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, an institution for the advanced study of Islam and the Muslim world, for the academic year 2024–25. The closing date for Visiting Fellowship applications is 9 January 2024 and that for Visiting Research Fellowships is 16 January 2024.

The Abdul Aziz Al-Mutawa and the Muhammad Bin-Ladin Visiting Fellowships

The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies promotes excellence in the study of Islam and Muslim societies. Applications are invited for Visiting Fellowships tenable at the Centre for the academic year commencing in October 2024.

Two Visiting Fellowships are offered to support research in any area that has relevance to the study of Islam or the Muslim world, particularly anthropology, economics, geography, history, international relations, law, literature, philosophy, politics, religion, sociology, science and society.

Applicants would normally be established academics but scholars at the postdoctoral level are also eligible.

These two stipendiary Visiting Fellowships are awarded annually to support an extended period of independent study and research at Oxford. They carry an annual stipend of £5000.

The Imam Bukhari and the Imam Tirmizi Visiting Research Fellowships

Two Visiting Research Fellowships, open to citizens of countries in Asia or Africa, are intended to encourage interaction among academics from different traditions of learning. Preference will be given to those studying classical Islamic sciences, although other areas in the humanities and social sciences will be considered.

Applicants should normally be at the postdoctoral level or equivalent.

These two stipendiary Visiting Research Fellowships carry an annual stipend of £4000.
