Famous American museum displays an Ottoman painting on Battle of Karbala

 

The American famous Metropolitan Museum of Art has published on its official website, an art painting, dating back to the Ottoman era, which lists what it described the first historical stages leading to the Battle of Karbala.

In its description of the painting which is entitled “The Assassination of the Prophet’s Family” by the Ottoman artist and poet Lami’i Chelebi, said: “It portrays the Prophet of Islam Muhammad (peace be upon him and his pure family) delivering a sermon on top of a pulpit and on his left side is Ali bin Abi Talib and his two sons – Al-Hassan and Al-Hussein (peace be upon them), in the presence of a gathering of the people of Medina.”

It noted that “The painter intended to highlight these sacred personalities through the halos of light that surround their faces.”
